I agree, best i have had in Dallas.?
I really enjoy their food and customer service, great area next to my home. The cashiers are always helpful. Highly recommended.
MoreSo much flavor. Could eat here everyday. Very polite wait staff walked us thru the menu. Best Ethiopian food I've ever had.
MoreOur favorite Ethiopian restaurant in Dallas! My gf hated Ethiopian before this, now she asks for it! The new GM really catered to everyone in the restaurant. We went with our 8 year old nephews and they were willing to make off the menu items to accommodate them. They ended up trying the Ethiopian food, and he gave them a sample of the mango drink. He also made us the best French fries we have ever had in our lives. Seriously, the best. The kids loved the food, and so did we. We did the meat and veggie sampler. Amazing. Our server was so warm and friendly, talking us through any questions we had. It's just a wonderful experience all around. Just be careful: you will overeat!
MoreThis was my perfect experience with Ethiopian food. It was pending from long time but the wait was worth a visit. Will highly recommend. The staff is very friendly, if you are familiar the staff will help you for selection.
MoreFantastic food ! The first painting is queen sheeba visiting Solomon ..
The food is good but the customer service is horrible! I am Ethiopian and they treat my friends and I with disrespect every time!
MoreThe food and drinks were delicious and the staff is all so very nice and friendly. Bebe the bartender is great and the owner is very nice as well! Will definitely go back very soon!
MoreHorrible service and food. Do not eat there.
First time eating at an Ethiopian restaurant. It was amazing. Food came out very quick. Perfect temp, portion was huge and staff was so friendly and patient. Thank you for this awesome experience. Will definitely come back again!!!
MoreWell received and excellent service, good food.
Interesting modern African atmosphere with simple, well-done vegetarian food. The carnivore menu looked very interesting. Fresh roasted coffee & Tiramisu make a great last course! I strongly recommend this place. It is frequented by Ethiopian folx so you know it's authentic!
MoreThis is in response to your reply to a review I left 2 months ago.2 weeks ago you wrote that "I reserved your restaurant for my birthday, showed up late with my guests who asked you to keep the place for extended time blah blah.." 🙄...I did not reserve any booking with Desta 2 weeks ago or any other time. I did not show up late for my ’whatever it was ‘ , I did not have those guests y’all are insinuating showed up and have absolutely no reason to book a party there 🙄🙄 and obviously I am not the only Es Mwangi in the entire universe..get your facts together!! I did not celebrate my birthday 2 weeks either 🤬🤬I think y’all blocked me from commenting and correcting your false reply , I got you with another user account 😂 and a downgrade to a 1 star review 🙃
MoreI adore this place! They provide superb dishes, their menu is varied, The chef in that restaurant is an expert, I enjoy very much eating all their dishes. The dishes are consistently tasty, the service towards the visitors is efficient. I often eat in this restaurant and I was never unhappy. I recommend this place.
MoreWe dined there yesterday. The hospitality is amazing and the place has tradition vibe nice interior design also. The food though could be better. The kitifo we order got cold and the butter settled while we eating. And the price of Geben coffee is outrageous may be its because we are from different state and not used to that kinda pricing for coffee.
MoreI ordered the Door Wok, which only comes with one chicken. I was disappointed that it came with just one, but the sauce and stew overall was great. I rather get ae different dish.
MoreGreat food can't complain. Only thing was I should have asked the price on my drink. Double Shot of Jameson. Lol... All in all great vibe. Very informative on the food. I'm African American and felt comfortable. Try it ...
MoreBest Ethiopian food I've had in the US.
I've never had Ethiopian food before coming here, and now I'm a huge fan!! From what my friends tell me, this is as authentic as it gets-- and the vibe here definitely feels like it too!I always get the Tibs (their signature entree) and mix it up with dIfferent sides every time. Their menus include a helpful guide on the side to describe what any unfamiliar food is; the servers are also very patient and kindly explain any questions I have and make sure I'm happy with what I order.Overall, great cuisine in a warm and welcoming environment. I'll definitely be back many more times.
MorePLEASE I AM A REGULAR CASTUMER. THE MANAGER IS EXCELLENT SERVICE, BUT THE WATERS ARE EVEN THEY DON'T WANT TO ASK WETHER THE FOOD IS GOOD OR. AND THE SERVICE IS VERY BAD. I CAME TO ENJOY MY LUNCH...I CAN'T & ASK TO GO BOX . No one can take care of me, I am fed up, I don't want REMEMBER that day. I came 35 to 45 from my home. And way I like my culture and traditions, that's why I came to habesha restaurant. And I will come Sunday. Thank you .this comment is GOOD for your business. Thank you. GOD BLESS Your business.
MoreThis place serves pretty good Ethiopian Food. I love the Injira's they server - they are served unlimited. 1 platter is enough for 2 people. They have 1 Vegetarian Platter Option which is pretty good and filling. The food is close to Indian meals , with lentils, mix vegetables and greens tasting very similar to food back in India. There's live music & DJ in the evenings as well. Seemed pretty famous spot among Ethiopian Community.Traditionally its a shared meal concept.
MoreGreat food! An amazing and different experience. I'm so glad we stopped by.
We’re really big fans of Ethiopian food and this place hits the spot every time. The Desta rolls are just the right start with the right amount of kitfo, the Lamb tibs are really great, as is the veggie combo. They also have gluten free injera and seafood options!
MoreExcellent Ethiopian food, on par with my favorite Ethiopian place in Denver. Highly recommend it. Both the Tuna Dulet and the meat and vegetables combo with lamb were delicious. The injera was perfectly moist and spongy, and all the spices were top notch.
MoreVery good food friendly service and clean place
First time coming here yesterday with my sister and I really liked. It was my 1st time trying Ethiopian food and my meal was delicious. I had the Tibs lamb and the flavor was devine 😃. Now I’m not sure what Ethiopian food is supposed to tase like but it’s alright with me. Also the customer service is excellent and they was having a birthday party which we were offered cake. How sweet. I will definitely be stopping by again. Thank you for your hospitality.
MoreDesta is a destination! Upon entering this restaurant, you begin a 'journey into the exotic'. From the decor to the delicious food and customer service, this restaurant is a must! If you're tired of the same choices, then allow yourself to experience Ethiopian cuisine. My husband surprised me with this place for lunch on my birthday. We'd eaten Ethiopian cuisine years before and had both been longing to eat it again. Give this place a try!
MoreI came here with an open mind. I am not disappointed at all.
This restaurant has a great vibe, excellent food, and the friendliest people who work there. It's not costly and tastes great.
MoreFood was really good and the ambiance was nice! The owner even came out and talked to us!
MoreI decided to try ethiopian food so I went to Desta. I wanted to try the Doro Wat but at the reccommendation of the waitress I tried the combo platter with Doro Wat. The platter was artfully prepared with 8 dishes plus the Doro Wat in the middle. It was very very good! Everything was seasoned with medium spice, not too hot, and it was served with plates of injera. No silverware, just injera, so you eat like real Ethiopians do. The flavors were great! The only drawback was that the chicken in the Doro Wat was overcooked and tough. I shared the platter and there was so much food that we couldn't finish the platter.
MoreFirst time ever having Ethiopian food. I didn’t know what to get so I went with the veggie and meat tray and it was amazing.Service was also good, our waitress was named Ma-aza ... I’m sure I butchered the spelling, but she was awesome too.Definitely recommend it!
MoreA great place to enjoy your day
A very nice cozy indoor/outdoor setting. The staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable in the menu items. The food arrived quick and it was no doubt very nice. Definitely going again.
MoreA little bit of a wait, and had to ask a few times for drinks, but they were busy. The food and suggestions for orders was amazing!!! Definitely going back, I’ve tried a few other places and nothing compares to this one.
MoreIts was quite amazing!!! First time there so it would have been good to have someone meet us at the front desk so we wouldn't just stand around looking lost. The staff was nice though and the service was just as GREAT AS THE FOOD!!! My husband and I enjoyed it so much!! We will definitely be back! The food was smooth and flavorful without being over bearing. We had the veggie platter and lamb tidbit!! 🤤🤤🤤
MoreThe lamb with veggies was 5 stars! The staff was also very friendly and the environment very original. The smell of spices was nice. I felt for a few moments like I was in Africa. I also need to say that the espresso coffee here is one of the best I have had in Dallas, it was strong with a bold flavor. I recommend this restaurant
MoreThis is a very casual authentic Ethiopian food joint. The service was little slow but the food was very delicious. I loved the ambience of a very casual cozy regional dining of this place.
MoreI have been wanting to try this place for a loooooooooooooooong time. I know nothing about Ethiopian food, but really enjoyed it. It was fresh, a bit spicy & very good. I'll be back & recommend Desta. I didn't know they ate with their hands, however if you need silverware they will provide it to you. I loved their hot spicy cinnamon tea (I didn't add black tea to it). Even though this restaurant come up on the vegetarian & vegan restaurant options, I only found 1 option for Veggies (I asked if they had more options). My dish was delish (Veggie Platter), I would eat it again & of course I would order the hot spicy cinnamon tea. Give them a try.
MoreGreat restaurant with delicious food! The service is friendly, and fast.
i often meet people here to talk. i had a brother come into town and he asked me to go back here. this place has a good design. this place has great reviews for a reason.
MoreWe visited Atlanta a couple of weeks ago and visited a restaurant with this same name. It was my first time eating Ethiopian food. It was a long 1.5 hour wait but delicious. So,when my husband said he found a place with the same name here in the DFW area, I was really psyched. But, it’s not the same place. Different menus, different taste, different presentation. However, it was very good. I think it tasted very authentic. We ordered the meat plate and shared it. We also ordered a sizzling beef plate. The flavor was good, but the meat was very tough and well done. Next time, I’ll specify how I want my meat cooked.
MoreDesta Ethiopian Restaurant is WONDERFUL AMAZING GREAT A SURE THING A MUST HI TOO!! I have plans to return. Food was well portioned, fresh and made my tastebuds very happy. 5 stars all the way!
MoreOur orders are alway missing something or have rotten staff on them. The can improve their customee service
MoreReally great food, nice place really neat environment! People are great!
Loved dining with friends last night at Desta! Delicious food and great atmosphere, I felt like I was in Addis!
MoreHad an Ethiopian Uber driver recommend this place and he was not lying. Best Ethiopian restaurant in the area! A great place to get away from the office and have a group lunch.
MoreWaited 2 hrs for the food, but it was understandable since it was the Ethiopian tournament. The food was good. The waitress we had was rude. The 3 stars is because once we gout our check we were being charged double with more food added to our order. We explained to her that we were being charged more but she argued that it was right at one point even tried to snatch my card to charge it after spending over 10 minutes arguing we asked for the manager before the manager came we tried explaining it to her once more and she realized her mistake
MoreSomething new to try out at Dallas area... not extraordinary good taste but can be considered
